Hi all,

So, we’re two weeks into our Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign and that marks the halfway point for us! We’ve had an amazing response from the global community so far – with 62 backers supporting our campaign in 12 countries worldwide.

It’s great to see Ethos Magazine reaching countries as far away as Japan and Brazil, as that’s what the essence of Ethos is all about – sharing the stories that we love, as far and wide as possible.

It’s also really interesting to see where the donations are coming from; 38% of our backers are already a part of our network, having donated through our email campaigns and through our website. But, it’s great to see that 16% of our funds have been donated directly through Indiegogo itself. We’re really glad we’re able to reach new audiences, and a whole new readership, through this campaign.

We want to say a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who has pledged so far and shared our story with their friends and family. We wouldn’t be out of the starting blocks without you all, so it means an awful lot to us that you believe in us and are willing us on.

After an initial surge in donations, we have reached the critical point of our campaign – the ‘scary middle part,’ where our campaign is no longer new, nor is it urgent to back. But (and that’s a big but) if you’re planning on backing our campaign, this would be the best time for you to pledge, as we’ve still got limited edition rewards available, and your donations would help us to climb back up the Indiegogo trending ladder, and get us seen by all the right people!

We are aware that with campaigns such as ours, word of mouth is critical. So, if you feel that someone in your network might love Ethos Magazine – tell them about us; send them a link to our campaign, share us on your social media platforms. We’re currently in the process of reaching out to people ourselves, via our various networks – so come and join our club, it’ll be fun!

We’d also like to let you know about our Ethos Goody Bag competition! We’ve decided to cram an Ethos tote bag with as much free Ethos stuff as we could manage. Think: freebies from people we’ve interviewed for the mag so far, and you’ll be on the right tracks. If you want to take part – head over to our Twitter and Facebook page and scroll down our feeds to find it – then all you have to do is follow us, and share/ retweet the image. And, Voila – your name’s in the hat!

So far we’ve raised enough money to design and print issue one. What we’re really focusing on now is raising enough to commission lots of great content from all over the world. We’re working on stories all the time, of course. And we’ve got lots of good ideas for issue one – but they key to Ethos will be getting stories from all over the world, and working with journalists globally to bring the best of them to you. That’s what our next phase of crowdfunding will crack.

Again, thank you all so much for your support so far, and keep spreading the word for us. Oh, and one last thing… Keep your eyes peeled on Friday for a special payday perk… 🙂

Lucy x
