Dear EU friends,

On 1st July 2021 new legislation was introduced for importing goods into the EU from the UK and the rest of the world. This means that you have to pay VAT according to rates in your country on products bought outside the EU, at the point of purchase. Given there are 27 different VAT rates across the EU, we’ve had to change how we sell our magazines to you.

You have a dedicated page now: ethos-magazine.newsstand.co.uk. You won’t be able to buy your mags or subscriptions through our main Ethos magazine site, and for that we are sorry. You can still peruse it at leisure – this page link has been added to each product description too – but you’ll have to make your purchase through this link. It does mean the correct VAT will be applied though and your package should (fingers crossed!) float through customs at your end.

Brexit has presented our very small business – and the businesses of many of our friends and colleagues – with some real administrative challenges. We didn’t vote for it and we don’t want it, and we hope you won’t be discouraged from buying from us as a result. The rules for selling to the EU seem to be constantly changing and increasingly complicated. However, we hope that this information reassures you that we are doing everything we can to make the changes as smooth as possible.
